The FDNY Emerald Society was first established in 1956.
The Society was started by Irish born and Irish-American members of the New York City Fire Department. The organization was founded for the purpose of sharing, promoting, and preserving Irish tradition within the ranks of the New York City Fire Department.

The FDNY Emerald Society is a Fraternal organization open to all Firefighters and Fire Officers within the New York City Fire Department. Our goal is to share and celebrate our Irish-American culture, heritage, history and tradition within our storied and historic department. Dues are $25 for active members. Retirees dues are $15. Dues can be deducted automatically, or mailed to Attn. Walter Dreyer 146 Iris Ave., Floral Park, NY. 11001.
